City of Fairfax Councilmember Visits Fairfax Lions

Sang Yi, two term councilmember spoke at our dinner meeting on August 16th. Sang updated us on city developments such as the new Amazon Fresh store  and various projects to better the community.  Sang also gave us insight on how the Council works together and his focus on policy and a strategic review of  infrastructure and development plans for Fairfax City.

It was also a distinct pleasure to meet a guest who is interested in joining our Club to help us perform our mission of service in our community. Maureen Johnson is originally from Zambia and is a resident of Fairfax County.

Volunteer of the Year

In a City of Fairfax ceremony on August 3, Lion Justin Haight was recognized as the “Volunteer of the Year” from Fairfax Lions Club. Past Lions President Mike Greeley announced Justin’s selection, and Fairfax City Mayor David Meyer presented the certificate.

Food For Others At Lions Meeting

Hannah Wilson, Development and Communications Associate for Food-for-Others, gave a great talk to Fairfax Lions at their dinner meeting on August 2nd. Food-for-Others distributes food to 3000-plus families in our community every week. Learn more at: https://foodforothers.org

Lion of the Year

At the end of each fiscal year (in June), the Club President designates a club member whose personal effort and energy contributed significantly toward the Fairfax Lions Club mission: “We Serve.” That person is acknowledged as the Fairfax Lion of the Year. For Lions Year 2021-2022, the Fairfax Lion of the Year is Justin Haight.

Congratulations Justin, for this well deserved recognition!

Lions Present Children’s Books

On June 23, Fairfax Lions delivered children’s books to Main Street Child Development Center.  This annual service was led once again by Lion Anh-Thu Phan.  Our Club supports the mission of Fairfax’s Main Street Child Development Center, which is to provide quality early-childhood education, and support, to empower children and families, regardless of financial circumstances. Fairfax Lions Install New Officers
